LibLime takes Koha with Class directly to the students
LibLime takes Koha with Class a step further by getting more involved with the classes and students. Two of LibLime’s on staff librarians, Patrick Jones and Maria Laude, will be featured speakers in two different library school classes. They will be participating in WebEx sessions over the next few weeks to show the students general overviews of LibLime Koha and to discuss the business of open development ILS applications. Dr. Rong Tang’s Library Automation class at Simmons College in Boston as well as Professor Fatih Oguz’s Computer-Related Technologies for Information Management class at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro will be the participants in the WebEx presentations.
This opportunity gives the students the chance to interact with LibLime Librarians to learn about open development software and its benefits. It also allows them to ask questions related to their coursework using LibLime Koha. This will be a wonderful opportunity for the future professionals to interact with librarians ‘in the industry’. LibLime is excited to work with these professors and students to bring more knowledge of the open development ILS environment and how beneficial it can be in libraries today.
About LibLime’s Koha with Class
LibLime's Koha with Class program is designed to give library school faculty a chance to embed the use of an ILS into their coursework and curricula. This allows students to gain practical experience with library automation software as they prepare to enter the library workforce. Many faculty members around the world are taking advantage of the free support that LibLime provides with the Koha with Class installations. LibLime is striving to expand the program overseas to support librarianship at an international level. Visit http://www.liblime.com/we-give-back to learn more about the program.
