LibLime Announces Production Release of LibLime Koha 4.16
North Bethesda, MD, September 19, 2013 – LibLime, a division of PTFS, announces the public release of LibLime Koha 4.16 with the Lucene Solr search engine.
LibLime Koha 4.16 represents the innovation, ideas, and talents of many professional librarians from different libraries with whom LibLime partners to enhance the application. LibLime looks forward to a continued professional partnership for years to come with these individuals and organizations.
Many of the features in LibLime Koha 4.16 were sponsored by a variety of libraries including the South Central Library System, Salina Public Library, Colorado Library Consortium, Blue Mountain, and the Pioneer Consortium.
Some of the new features of LibLime Koha 4.16 include:
• foundational support for authority control
• global editing of authorized fields linked through the authority record
• expanded SIP2 support for renewals
• improved Solr stemming functionality
• enhanced search attributes for patron records for easier staff access
• support for RDA 2013
The libraries sponsoring development in LibLime Koha 4.16 played vital roles in the design of the new features as well as the quality assurance process including alpha and beta testing. Over 100 libraries are now using LibLime Koha 4.16 live in production and within the next several weeks, many more will be scheduling production upgrades. Development has begun on LibLime Koha 4.18 which will include a new fines/fees module among other enhancements.
Solr is the popular open source enterprise search platform from the Apache Lucene project. Solr is highly scalable, providing distributed search and index replication.
